Parenting from Your Heart

Workshop Overview

Parenting from Your Heart is our parenting skills series, developed through the most current research, best practices and our collective experience working with children and families worldwide. We are proud to offer this comprehensive program to the community.

Learn to Be the Best Parent You Can Be

Building successful families is more than merely learning intellectual concepts and ideas. Throughout three sessions, participants will engage in experiential learning to understand how to apply the parenting skills required to help children grow to be successful and to help families succeed. Each experience gives the opportunity to hear the concepts, see them demonstrated, listen to others and integrate these approaches into your own parenting style and family life.

Learn To

  • Raise your child's self-esteem
  • Improve the efficacy of your parenting skills
  • Parent together more effectively with your partner
  • Deal with conflict within your family
  • Lead your family
  • Understand the impact of differing parenting styles

The Voice of The Child

Parenting from Your Heart includes the “Voice of the Child,” in which Gestalt Associates child therapist Margie Mapes brings adults inside a child’s perspective, making vivid what children actually feel and how they respond to issues, questions, problems and situations. Participants are taught how to see and hear what their child is communicating, both verbally and nonverbally, then properly respond. Topics discuss when conditions move from fluid to rigid, from OK to not OK by focusing on the situation and circumstances at hand.
